This survey can vary in scope considerably
based on your needs. Generally, a topographic survey determines
the slope and elevation of the ground and
the locations of improvements and appurtenances
on a property.
These surveys are helpful to
architects, engineers and builders in evaluation and design for
buildings, drainage systems, utility locations, roadways, streets
and other structures.
A topographic survey does not
always require a full boundary survey. This depends upon the extent
of information desired.
A topographic survey may be
a very small area such as a drainage ditch or a very large area
such as a lake or section of land.
The results of the survey are presented on
a scaled drawing of the area showing lines of constant
elevation (contour lines), improvements such as buildings, sheds,
concrete areas, trees, light poles, signs, fences, etc... At the
clients request a utility locate service can be ordered so that
the location of underground utilities may also be shown on the drawing.
